A collection of 75 autobiographical short stories recording highlights gathered from 50 years of mountain travel and adventures around the world. Anyone who has followed routes described in my guidebooks will have an affinity with some of these tales, which have been depicted as ‘inspiring, sometimes nail-biting, often funny and always engaging.’

A Walk in the Clouds brings out the delights of walking, trekking, climbing and travelling among the mountains of four continents, from the Alps to the Himalaya, from Morocco to the Pyrenees and the Andes of Peru – and many other rugged places in between. The stories in A Walk in the Clouds are a celebration of wild nature, but they are also about friends and strangers met along the way, confrontations with wildlife; the life-enhancing joy of being ‘out there’ and living in the moment.

Life is a gift, enriched by experiences harvested along the way. A Walk in the Clouds tells of a life lived fully while gathering that harvest.
