Or perhaps you fancy trekking right across Switzerland following the ALPINE PASS ROUTE.
This epic long walk crosses 16 passes on its way from Sargans near Liechtenstein in the east, to Montreux on the Lake of Geneva in the west, and takes you not only past such luminary peaks as Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, but many lesser-known, but no less spectacular, mountains too.
Several adventure travel companies organise trekking holidays in the west and central parts of the Alpine Pass Route, concentrating mainly on trails of the Bernese Oberland, but in doing so they ignore some very fine mountain scenery - and great trekking too - in the earlier, eastern stages. To link one side of Switzerland with the other is something of a challenge, but from each pass gained rewards are won as a new landscape unfolds. With sixteen passes to cross, that's a lot of landscape - and a lot of rewards!
This is the 2nd edition of the Alpine Pass Route which was first published in 1990 and has been rewritten and redesigned, with 59 colour photos and new maps.
