Everest:
A Trekker's Guide

EVEREST: A TREKKER'S GUIDE concentrates on the Nepalese side of the world's highest mountain, but with a section devoted to the trek to the Rongbuk Base Camp in Tibet, and another to the Kangshung Face.

Most treks to Kalar Pattar or Everest Base Camp begin with a flight to Lukla, but in Everest: A Trekker's Guide the longer route through Sola Khumbu from the roadhead at Jiri is also detailed, with information about the lodges and teahouses along the way. Side trips into the staggeringly beautiful Gokyo Valley, and that of the Imja Khola below Lhotse's enormous South Face, are also described in Everest: A Trekker's Guide, as is a trek from Namche to Thame.

"The romance of adventure in Nepal is carefully balanced with the bare reality of essential knowledge," wrote Jarlath Duffy of this book in the Irish Mountain Log, while Himalayan addict Tony Freake's review (in the Austrian Alpine Club Newsletter) said the guide is "A must for anybody going the Everest way. I was impressed with the author's eye to detail."
