The North Downs Way

The North Downs Way is in the same series as the South Downs Way guidebook, The North Downs Way guidebook entices walkers from Farnham in Surrey to Dover in Kent along 130-odd miles of footpaths and tracks. It's an ancient route. Or at least, The North Downs Way follows ancient routes in part, and surprises with large areas devoid of habitation, gaining big panoramas over the open spaces of the Weald.

The Surrey section of The North Downs Way overlooks vast patches of woodland, while in East Kent between Canterbury and Dover, or between Wye and Folkestone on the southern loop, there are long stretches with barely a farmhouse in view, but where a distant hint of shipping in the English Channel adds something special to the walk.

In The North Downs Way guidebook the walk is broken into sections dictated by access to overnight accommodation, while on the longer stages accommodation may also be found at intermediate points along the way.

Since its inauguration in 1978, thousands of walkers have enjoyed the challenge of the North Downs Way. This latest guidebook will hopefully encourage many more to enjoy it in the future.
